Using the View QuickSearchUsing the View QuickSearch
Each View window contains a customizable QuickSearch. When you create a view, you specify the columns you want to be able to filter by and you specify the sequence in which you want the system to list the column filter options in the View window's QuickSearch field. For more information on customizing a view's QuickSearch list, see the Creating and Customizing a View topic.
To perform a basic QuickSearch from the View window, do the following:
In the unlabeled column field (the first field in the QuickSearch region), use the drop-down menu to select the column of data you want to search.
In the unlabeled comparison operator field (the second field from the left in the QuickSearch region), select the method by which the value you specify for this field must relate to the value in the field by which you are searching for the system to consider the record a match. The available options may include any of the following, depending upon the data type of the column: equals, contains, does NOT contain, begins with, does NOT begin with, ends with, does NOT end with, is less than, is greater than, is in the range, is NOT equal to, and is NOT in the range.
In the unlabeled value field(s) in the QuickSearch region, which may be a single entry field for specifying a value, a set of entry fields for specifying a range of values, or a set of radio buttons for selecting a specific value, enter the value or range of values for which you wish to search
If the field is a monetary/currency field, do not enter the monetary/currency symbol in the field.
If the field is a text entry field, the search is not case-sensitive.
If the comparison operator you select is based on sorted values (e.g., you set the comparison operator to is greater than), the system sorts data in numeric-alpha order; a search for column values greater than A1 will exclude all values that begin with a number.
Click [Go] to perform the search
To use advanced QuickSearch functionality, see the Using the QuickSearch topic.
Drilling Down to a Linked ViewDrilling Down to a Linked View
To drill down to a linked view, do the following:
From the E-View window, click the category tab (i.e., Favorites, Shared, Corporate, or System) in the Side Panel containing the view you want to access
Locate the view you want to access
Open the view by doing either of the following:
With the view selected in the category list, click the View icon in the Side Panel's toolbar to open the view in the View window.
With the view located in the category list, double-click the view name in the Side Panel to open the view in the View window.
From the View window, locate a record for which you want to drill-down to additional information in a linked view
Right-click the record to display the list of linked views.
From the right-click menu, click a view. The system opens that view in another View window and populates the QuickSearch with data from the record you selected so that the linked view shows data related to the selected record. For example, if you are viewing the System View >> Customers view, right-click on a selected customer, and select Customer Invoices (Customer Number) from the right-click menu, the system opens the System View >> Customer Invoices view and filters the view to display invoices for that customer.
Using the ViewsUsing the Views
At the bottom right of an opened e-view, is the Auto populate checkbox. When checked, e-views will automatically populate the e-view with all information available to that view. This checkbox is checked by default and can be unchecked at any time. If there is an excessive amount of data available for a particular e-view the result may be a very long wait for the e-view to open or the e-view may time out before it can complete the attempt to open. In this case you would want to uncheck the Auto populate checkbox (while the view is still attempting to open), close the view, and reopen it. The view will open unpopulated. You can then apply QuickSearch filters to limit the amount of information that will display.
