Enabling Custom Properties
Custom Properties are attributes (custom fields) that can be associated with:
Contracts
Customers
Employees
Equipment
GL Accounts
Inventory Requests
Items
Makes
Models
Purchase orders
RMAs (Returned Material Authorizations)
RTV (Returned to Vendor)
Sales orders
Vendors
Warehouses
Custom Properties are not dynamic and do not change. You simply set the properties and the property remains fixed until you change it. Setting Custom Properties involves several steps:
Determine which attributes you want collect.
Enable Custom Properties in e-automate Options.
Create necessary attributes (fields).
Organize groups of attributes into configurations so they can be assigned as a group. The organized group is called a Custom Property Configuration. You can create different types of configurations for each of the areas in which they can be assigned.
Set the attribute values associated with each configuration and assign the configurations.
For example, you could set two attributes on all analog equipment. The first attribute is the Service Date; when you placed the equipment in service. The second attribute is Digital Conversion; the date you expect to convert the customer to a digital machine. After determining the attributes, you would enable custom properties in e-automate so you could associate your chosen attributes with all analog equipment. Next, you would create the following two attributes: Service Date and Digital Conversion. Each attribute would be formatted as a date. You would then create a configuration in which you could group the two attributes so they could be assigned together to all analog equipment. After creating the configuration and assigning it to the analog equipment, you could then go to each equipment item Custom Properties tab and enter the appropriate dates. You could also then use e-views to report on the data in Custom Properties.
