Creating Meter Sources

You use meter sources to specify the origin of a meter reading. Included with e-automate are a few built in meter sources, and you can define your own meter sources. The meter sources that are standard to e-automate are:

Auto-estimated: A meter source that is used when e-automate batch estimates meters during the contract billing process.

Contract: For meters entered on a service contract.

Estimated: For meters that are estimated.

Ext Interface: Meter source that is used for meters that are imported into the system using an external interface.

Fax: For meters that are received via fax.

History: For meters that are entered when requested as a result of Equipment History Tracking.

Other: For meters received by a method not classified.

Phone:  For meters received by phone.

Service Call: For meters entered during the invoicing of a service call.

Web: For meters that are entered by customers via e-info.

Web Suspect: For meters entered via e-info that are outside of meter expectations.

Getting to the TransactionGetting to the Transaction

From the Tools menu, select Lists and Codes to open the Lists and Codes window.

In the Select a list or code type field, use the drop-down menu to select Meter Sources.

Click [New] to open the New Meter Source window.

Basic InformationBasic Information

In the Meter source field, enter the code for the meter source.

In the Description field, enter a brief description of the meter source.

Completing the TransactionCompleting the Transaction

Click [OK] to save the meter source.
