Creating Custom Property Configurations

After you have determined your custom property attributes, enabled Custom Properties, and created the attributes in e-automate, you can organize your attributes in a Custom Property Tracking Configuration for assignment to an e-automate entity.

A Custom Property Tracking Configuration links a group of attributes together so the attributes can be assigned to an e-automate entity as a group. When attributes are linked together in a Custom Property Tracking Configuration, you can then assign the configuration to:

Contracts

Customers

Employees

Equipment

GL Accounts

Inventory Requests

Items

Makes

Models

Purchase orders

RMAs (Returned Material Authorizations)

RTV (Returned to Vendor)

Sales orders

Vendors

Warehouses

When you have made these assignments, you can then populate the attribute values on the respective entity.

Note: The use of custom properties may affect future upgrades. You may decide to track custom attributes that later may be incorporated in the e-automate application. When this occurs, the upgrade path may not be automated.

Getting to the TransactionGetting to the Transaction

On the Tools menu, select Lists and Codes to open the Lists and Codes window.

In the Select a list or code type field, use the drop-down menu to select Configurations (custom properties).

Basic InformationBasic Information

In the Name field, enter a name for this custom configuration.

In the Description field, enter a description of the custom configuration.

In the Group field, use the drop-down menu to select one of the possible groups.

Note: Assigning a group enables you to assign this configuration only to the group defined. For example, if you create a configuration for equipment, you would be able to assign the configuration to equipment records in e-automate. You would not be able to assign it to other entities unless you created a configuration for the specific entity. If you want to assign custom property attributes to multiple areas, you must create multiple configurations.

In the Available Attribute(s) field, use the drop-down menu to select an attribute.

Note: You can select your customized attributes.

Click [QuickAdd] to add the attribute to the Selected Attributes list.

To define a default for an attribute, do the following:

Select the attribute from the list of attributes.

Check Default Value.

In the Default Value field, enter or select the default value.

Repeat steps 4 through 6 until you have added all necessary attributes and default values for your circumstances.
