Creating Overage Tables
Typically, when a customer is leasing or renting a piece of equipment such as a copier, their contract with you includes a limited amount of usage per month. When they go over that limit, the overage table attached to their contract specifies how much you charge them per unit. You are allowed to specify these rates for up to ten increments at six decimal places per increment. The highest range is two billion (2,000,000,000).
For instance, suppose you have a contract with Joe's Plumbing in which you cover 1,000 units a month. This month you went to perform preventative maintenance on the machine and took the meter reading. You discovered that the machine had performed 2,000 units in the last month. According to the overage table you attached to Joe's contract, the first five hundred units over the limit cost him 5 cents each, and the next five hundred cost him 2 cents each. Accordingly, e-automate charges Joe's Plumbing $25 for the first 500 units over and $10 for the second 500 units over, totaling $35.
