Additional Info - Using More Than One Exception
If you choose to use more than one tax exception, you should be aware of the process e-automate uses to apply exceptions. The Item Unit exception is examined first by e-automate and applies the rules defined. After the Item Unit rules have been applied, e-automate calculates the Tax Basis (taxable amount) for each item. If there is more than one authority associated with the taxes, e-automate applies the Item Unit exception for each item and each tax authority, calculating the Tax Basis for each item per authority. E-automate temporarily stores the Tax Basis for each item per authority. If you are only using the Item Unit exception, e-automate calculates the tax and displays it on the invoice.
If you are using the Tax Flag exception in addition to the Item Unit exception, e-automate sums the charges (prices) for each tax flag on the invoice and applies the rules to calculate the Tax Basis under the Tax Flag exception per authority. E-automate then compares the calculated Tax Basis for each authority from the Item Unit per authority to the Tax Flag per authority and selects the lower Tax Basis amount per authority for taxation. If you are not using an Invoice exception, e-automate then calculates the tax and displays it on the invoice.
If you are using the Invoice exception in addition to the Item Unit and the Tax Flag then e-automate applies the Tax Limit rule defined by the Invoice exception per authority to come up with a final tax amount for the invoice.
