Creating Customer Types

You use Customer Type records to categorize customers based on the type of business they do (e.g., Wholesale, Retail, Non-profit, Leasing). The information in this topic explains how to create Customer Type records. Once you create your customer types, you can then assign a customer type to each customer on the Account tab of the Customer record. You can use the customer type to view your e-automate sales activity by customer type.

Getting to the TransactionGetting to the Transaction

From the Tools menu, select Lists and Code to open the Lists and Codes window.

In the Select a list or code type field, use the drop-down menu to select Customer Types.

Click [New] to open the New Customer Type window.

Basic InformationBasic Information

In the Customer Type field, enter a name to classify a group of customers.

In the Description field, enter additional information to further identify this group of customers.

In the Default price level field, enter the price level you want the system to use by default for any customer with this customer type.
Note: You can override this price level on a per customer basis using the Customer record, Billing tab, Price level field.

Check the Leasing pass through checkbox if, when the processing of a Customer Hold Status task via e-agent would place a credit hold on—or release a credit hold from—a bill-to customer with this customer type, the system should instead place the credit hold on—or release the credit hold from—the customer on the invoice. Do not check this checkbox if the system should place the credit hold on—or release the credit hold from—a bill-to customer with this customer type.
