Additional Info - Estimating Meter Reads
From the New Meter Reading window, you can use e-automate to estimate a meter reading if sufficient history exists on which to base the estimate. If you set Meter source to Estimated, e-automate enables the [Estimate] button. If you enter a future date in the Date field, e-automate defaults Meter source to Estimated and enables the [Estimate] button. If you then click [Estimate], e-automate attempts to estimate a meter reading as follows:
E-automate
checks to see if usage history exists for the meter during the previous
3-months (3 mo.) on which to base
an Average Monthly Usage for the
meter (e.g., 3 mo.: 1,671, where
"1,671" represents the Average
Monthly Usage based on the preceding 3 months of usage history).
Note:
If this average is not available, e-automate displays a message indicating
the meter cannot be estimated because insufficient history exists on which
to base the estimate.
E-automate identifies the last known meter reading and date (e.g., Previous Meter Reading: 575,232 on 1/6/2016).
E-automate
calculates the Average Daily Usage
by dividing the Average Monthly Usage (e.g.,
1,671) by the Average Number of Days
per Month (30.25).
Average Daily Usage = 1,671 / 30.25
= 55.2397
E-automate
then calculates the Meter Reading Coverage
Period by determining the number of days from the last valid meter
reading in the meter history (e.g., From Previous
Meter Date: 1/6/2016) to the Date
in the New Meter Reading window (e.g., New Meter Reading window Date: 4/6/2016).
Meter Reading Coverage Period =
Date Difference between 1/6/2016 and 4/1/2016 = 91 Days.
E-automate
then calculates the estimated Meter Usage
for this period by multiplying the average daily usage (55.2397) by the
number of days (e.g., 91) in the period.
Meter Usage = 55.2397 * 91 = 5,027
(rounded)
Finally,
e-automate calculates the estimated meter by adding the estimated meter
usage (e.g., 5,027) to the previous meter reading (e.g., 575,232).
Estimated Meter = 575,232 + 5,027
= 580,259
Note:
To see the calculations, click
[More info] (see below for meter
estimate details for this example).
Note:
The example above assumes that there are not meters in the future beyond
the date in the New Meter Reading window, you are estimating a meter between
two known meters and dates. If there are meters after the form date the
calculation will be different.
