Creating and Printing Sales Order Picking Lists
A picking list is a form containing the information needed to locate and select the in-stock items on a sales order. Picking lists contain the following information:
Sales order number(s)
Item number for each item on the order(s)
Quantity and unit of measure of each item on the order(s)
Item location (warehouse and bin)
Quantity available at each location
The items on the picking list are grouped by bin, and the bins are sorted by the picking order. Picking order is defined on the inventory bin profile. Having bin information on the picking list and listing bins in picking order allows employees to travel through the warehouse without taking unnecessary routes to pick orders quickly and efficiently.
Two different picking reports are available in e-automate: the standard picking report, and the Quick Pick report. The standard picking report is different from a Quick Pick report in that the Quick Pick does not consider on-hand quantity for the warehouse when listing items on the report. The standard picking list only lists items that are in stock and not backordered in the specified warehouse. If an item is not in stock, the item is omitted from the report. If an item is drop-shipped or backordered, it would also be omitted from the report. Another difference is that the standard picking report assigns a picked status to an inventory item on a sales order, while the Quick Pick report does not assign status. Because the standard picking report affects status, you can use a standard picking report to auto-populate items picked in the Sales Order Fulfillment window.
